4th of April 2005 - The Morning

Its early in the morning, around 430, and still no sleep for Pradeep. He goes checks whether his mom has got up... and lo and behold she hasnt slept a wink either. Pradeep tries to desperately spend the remaining time till 6, before the Vaadhiyars come home. What do we know better, but to be online chatting with our friends. Now that has pushed the time a bit. At around 545, we are all ready wearing all the 'Madi' veshti et al. The Vaadhiyars are to get here at 615, and our man is walking here and there... checking through the peep hole every 15 seconds. At 615 sharp arrive the Vaadhiyaars... to the great relief of Pradeep.

The whole process takes just around 30 minutes totally. Its good to be starting the day with the blessings of Appa, oh gosh, I wish he was here today... he would have loved every bit of the action. I am sure he is up there over seeing all these happenings though :).

Pradeep and Amma get ready quickly and off we are to the hospital. Its a pretty quick drive, as there is not much of traffic this early in the morning.

We reach the hospital and enter room number 25 to find... Obelix. No, no, I am not kidding here, Vidya looked like the real life version of Obelix... with 2 pony tails and her well covered self, she looked like Obelix ditto. Pradeep is very amused with her looks and keeps bugging her.

There is bit of tension in the air... you can just feel it... any attempt by Pradeep to ease the tension is of no use. At around 830, we are all set to leave to the Operation Theatre and the anxiety builds up. Pradeep accompanies Vidya till the Operation Theatre door and gives her a kiss on her forehead, wishing her all the very best and re-assuring her that everything will be fine.

The wait starts...
